Bargain Shopping At Its Finest
I love fall. By now, you know this. Today was the first day where it really felt like Autumn. It all started with an early morning breakfast with the fam at Biscuitville. Nothing like stepping out of the house at 0800 & the temperature being 50 degrees! It was perfect! After a tasty breakfast of cheese grits, Sarah & I headed off to the Old Virginia Candle Company Tent Sale. For those of you not from Lynchburg, they have a huge sale twice a year with the deals of all deals. A little known fact is they are the makers of WoodWick candles – a relatively new phenomenon – that you can pick up at your closest Cracker Barrel, amongst other outlets. So for $30, I left with 4 large woodwicks, 1 small, and a large soy apple pie candle (to celebrate fall of course!). One of the large candles costs at least $20 retail..hence my elation.
By this time, the shopping endorphins kicked in & I wanted more deals. NEEDED more deals. As if by divine coincidence, the Consolidated Shoe Store reopened Friday, after multiple months of being closed. They are shoe distributors for some popular brand shoes (Nicole, Poetic Licence, Apepezza, Palladium, etc) & have a store around back where they sell their shoes at discount. And when I say discount….I mean discount! I spent $60 on 3 pairs of shoes today that retail for at least $80 each….HEAVEN! So if you are local – keep your eye out for their next tent sale & check out the store (open Thurs – Sat).
Since I’d had such amazing luck, I thought I’d run by my other staple bargain store – the J.Crew Factory Store. Despite their recent renovation (read: faux hardwood floors only), I had no luck today. I guess since its mid-season clothing-wise, there wasn’t much of interest for now….but I’ll be back soon no doubt! I’m in search of this…..
Now……if only October would get here a bit faster. I’m already counting down the days until Pumpkin pancakes @ the Days Inn & trips to the apple house on the parkway. Good thing I’m burning this hot apple pie candle to get me though……….
